Teen Sewing Series:
Make a Difference while Making Fashion
Dates TBD, email us if interested.
This series is designed to teach teens to upcycle old clothes, re-imagine thrift store finds & more. Fast Fashion is one of the leading contributors to climate change, teens want to make a change and this is a great way! Many are boycotting fast fashion stores and turning to vintage and thrift stores instead to create an interesting wardrobe. Imagine the possibilities if you could sew.
After basic skills are learned, then we truly tap into your design inspo and ramp up your sewing skills to turn sewing into your own personal superpower. Do you like that shirt but want longer sleeves? No problem. Want to turn that top into a dress? No problem. Want a v-neck instead of a scoop? Or even to turn the whole thing into a tank top? No problem.
No prior experience necessary. Sewing machines provided for those who do not have their own. Students will have input on workshop content and projects.
Workshop led by Karen LePage. Karen has written books about sewing for children and adults and she is the indie designer’s patternmaking secret weapon. She has taught video and in-person classes to anyone who would listen since 2008. She believes that sewing clothes is a radical act of self-love that increases your sense of self-worth. She is basically your sewing fairy godmother.
